“Drew is authentic, relatable, and raw. He makes you stop, listen, and want to do more for mental health.”

My Talks

I relate my story to the story of our community. I’ve learned invaluable lessons on my journey of transformation—from life-threatening accidents and the dark depths of depression and suicidal despair, all the way to the mental, emotional, and physical strength required to climb mountains, ski lines in the backcountry, run 100-mile ultramarathons, and ultimately share my truest self with the world. I translate these lessons to be applicable on an individual, community, or societal level. Because whether it’s trying to heal ourselves or change the world, the journey ahead shares these simple truths:

  • The solution starts with talking about it.

  • Vulnerability is the root of meaningful, authentic change.

  • Every human on the planet has the capability to turn the sources of our greatest struggles and pain into an unlimited source of our greatest strength.

Testimonials

"Drew spoke about mental health at our 2022 Cutter's Camp at Timberline Lodge, Oregon. Drew has been a vocal advocate in raising awareness of mental health issues in mountain communities, using his own very powerful story of battling suicidal thoughts and depression to put the crisis into perspective. While he was speaking to the campers—an audience of about 100 terrain park and mountain operations professionals—you could hear a pin drop. Seeing many of the campers seek him out after the workshop and throughout the evening in deep meaningful ways is a testament to the powerful impact of his story.”

— Olivia Rowan, Publisher, Ski Area Management Magazine

“Drew made an overwhelmingly positive impact on our community and on me personally during his visit and speaking engagement at our annual Reeling in Stigma event. Attendees and sponsors reached out afterwards to tell me how impactful he was as a speaker. Drew is beyond genuine and above all shares his story from a place of love and compassion. I have no doubt Drew's career as a public mental health advocate is his calling and the crowds will continue to get larger.”

—Ian Lieberman, Co-Founding Director, Love IV Lawrence Foundation

“Our community in Crested Butte, Colorado struggles with mental health and substance abuse, and we were looking for someone to come spark a conversation and make a meaningful connection. That is exactly what Drew did to a packed house at our local arts center. Drew tells his story with such passion and vulnerability, and he ends with a call to action that deeply resonated with everyone. The entire audience was silent and leaned in while they listened to his every word. Drew had a long line of people waiting to talk with him after the event and he took the time to listen to and speak with every single one of them. Drew truly touched me and our community and made a huge impact. I am forever grateful.”

—Jenny Birnie, Executive Director, Gunnison Valley Health

Drew Petersen's speech had a profound impact on the audience at Jay Peak Resort. Drew's message of hope, resilience, and self-care resonated deeply with the audience, and many people left feeling inspired to take action to support their own mental health and that of their loved ones. His talk is helping to break down the stigma surrounding mental illness. We look forward to inviting Drew back to continue the conversation with our community.

—Melissa Sheffer, Director of Rooms & Community Engagement, Jay Peak Resort

"The way that Drew shares vulnerably and authentically about the reality of mental health, the challenges of overcoming life obstacles, and the pressures that are put particularly on young men is powerful and extremely impactful. Drew has a way of connecting with people that leaves hearts and minds open and full, and leads to actual real changes. He's not afraid to have the deep dialogue that many others are afraid to touch, and the result is something beautiful."

—Connor Catron, LSW, Secondary School Social Worker, Summit School District

“Drew's abilities in the mountains are remarkable. But his abilities as a communicator are just as impressive. His thoughtfulness, kindness, and willingness to open up about — and help us reckon with — the most important topics are a tremendous gift. At our Blister Summit, Drew's enthusiastic one-on-one interaction with attendees, coupled with his effectiveness in holding the attention of a large group while he spoke, were two of the highlights of a great event. We absolutely hope to have him back next year.”

—Jonathan Ellsworth, Founder and Editor-in-Chief, Blister Review
